Protect the nighttime visibility of the backup camera on your Volkswagen ID.4 with the OG camera hood. This hood snuggly attaches to the rear camera on the ID.4 shielding it from stray light from the license plate. Any of that bright light that gets into the camera (even if it is cropped out of the displayed image) can fool the camera's processor into reducing display brightness making it difficult to see dark driveways and parking lots at night.

This part especially makes a difference when the weather is bad. Water droplets on the surface of the camera can bulge out enough to be directly illuminated by stray light creating blinding spots that stress the camera's image processing. Install this hood and those bright spots turn into harmless transparent droplets allowing a brighter, more detailed image as demonstrated in the video and photos above.

I designed this accessory to shield as much stray light as possible without reducing the camera's field of view. This part has been tested on several ID.4's to make sure it does not interfere with the camera's field of view, even in wide mode. If you buy this and it significantly blocks any of the view of your backup camera, please check to make sure the part is fully seated as shown in the the included instructions. If that doesn't fix the issue, please contact me about an exchange for a part with smaller shielding or return the part for a refund. I don't want my product to create more issues than it fixes!

This product is compatible with the 2021-2023 VW ID.4 (including the USA-built ID.4) and Skoda Enyaq. I have customer confirmations that it also fits the 2018 VW Atlas and 2022 VW Tiguan. I will update the compatibility list as testing results come in. This hood does not interfere with the camera washer nozzle next to the camera.

This part is an original design by me. If you see another listing that reminds you of this design, note that this original is the only hood that provides 360 degree protection from the license plate and from the LED lights on the sides. 3D Printed with PETG to stand up to the elements. 3D Printed Parts are not like Injection Molded Parts. The surface will show extrusion lines, artifacts, blemishes and other signs of plastic extrusion. This will occur with any 3D Printed parts using the FDM method of printing as I do.

I inspect each part and touch up each by hand making each part I deliver a uniquely crafted item. I guarantee each part will function as designed.
